Our Story

Since we were kids we’ve been baking alongside our mom and Italian grandmother.   For us the holiday season meant a marathon of cookie baking and learning some of our family recipes.  Family has always been important to us and from elementary school, when we tried our hand at selling custom hair bows and earrings, on we always dreamed of having a family business.  We love to bake our family recipes and we love to invent using some of our favorite flavor combinations.  For years we talked about combining our passion for baking and our dream of a family business.  Coming up with the name was easy.  Dubbed “the Campbell’s Soup Kid” by family and friends due to her round cheeks   Katie brainstormed with Cori to come up with a fun name that incorporated fond memories of growing up.  For years we knew the business would be called “Sweet Cheeks” as an homage to our fond memories of baking and for “chubby cheeked” kids everywhere.    In 2008 when we were both back in the Washington DC area we decided to work towards our lifelong goal and start Sweet Cheeks Bakery DC.   In 2010 Sweet Cheeks debuted at the National Harbor Farmers market in Oxon Hill, Maryland.  Baking alongside a sister is the most rewarding a job can get.  Though the market is closed from November through April Sweet Cheeks continues to fill online orders specializing in custom cookies for weddings and holiday gatherings.  We put our passion for baking and family into each bit of sweetness we bake and look forward to making your next gathering a little sweeter.
